I tend to stay away from the frozen stuff in the pool. It's usually too cold to drink right away without a brain freeze, and I end up letting it melt a good bit first. But my wife made a bourbon cherry lime-aid slush several years ago that hit the spot. We somehow wore out a KitchenAid blender, and had bought a Ninja, so she kept playing with it.
I was cutting grass one day, and she walked out and handed me a drink. I had made a batch of bourbon soaked cherries (thanks to someone here posting a thread/recipe about it) and we had some limes. She put about a dozen of the cherries in the blender, a couple of shots of the syrup they were in, which was equal parts simple syrup and bourbon, and a couple of shots of bourbon on top of that. Peeled a few limes and tossed them in, and filled it about halfway with ice and blended it to make a couple of drinks. The cherry and lime took away the bite of the bourbon. Similar to how a Mint Julep tasted in how it was mildly sweet.
