Inchon was great I guess. But it was a gamble that could've gone terribly wrong considering the state of our amphibious forces and overall readiness. If that shore was adequately defended that could've been a disaster. Still, I take risks like that in war games and you feel brilliant because of the reward vs the risk.
But all the other risks taken alongside his arrogance and aloofness combined with allowing a sycophant idiot like Almond to run wild are an solid indictment of MacArthur post WWII.
On a positive note, how terrific a leader is Oliver Smith? That dude saved thousands of Marines and Soldiers. But I know he'd credit the engineers and fighting men that served under him. And they deserve credit. They all made the best chicken salad ever out of frozen chicken shite.
