Hold up. I'd question the company's long-term financial stability in general if a 6% difference in COL prompted them to lower your salary.
It's not like you're moving from CA to MO.

That was my first thought. On a $100k salary, that's only $6000.
Have you verified yourself the COL is that much lower?
