I wear fingerless wool gloves down to about 20F pretty comfortably while duck hunting and fishing. They're great because you maintain dexterity in the fingers but the palms stay nice and toasty. They might slip over the thinner gloves you have too if you wanted to double up. If you want the thumb free, just cut off the tip.

Just make sure they're at least 85% wool and not mostly poly, etc...

They also make some straight fingerless gloves that don't have the pop top. I've worn these for years:
