I think this is a bad idea. Instead, I taught my kids gun safety and to respect the damage a gunshot can cause. Kids want to touch the the things you tell them not to just because the intrigue. I would teach them exactly how to handle a firearm and the 10 commandments of gun safety.

I think it's actually a pretty creative place to stash a pistol. It's out of sight and fairly easy o get to.

Oh my kids have had extensive experience with guns and safety. We hunt all the time. I’m not worried about the kids, I'm honestly not. Just don’t appreciate being called stupid by someone who has a sixteenth of the gun knowledge, respect, and experience I do. I’m trying to show her it’s not stupid in our current scenario with our kids and our home. Maybe for someone else with less experience and less experienced kids.
