Skip the Griz. Black Bear here are pretty tasty. It is handy to learn a little about bear behavior and to keep bear spray with you. I keep a Glock 20 with me personally, but have never had any issues.
Not sure if you have any interest in it, but it's a great place to get your pilots license. Merrill Field isn't too far away from you.

Fact. Also consider Dept of National Resources land sales, get a nice lake front property somewhere to stick a cabin.

Skip the Griz in the only state in the US that you can get a tag for them? Don’t think so. That’s a $10,000+ hunt for all but Alaska residents. He can hunt black bear all over the lower 48, but not Griz.
