I know the launch and marsh area of Sabine refuge is now closed to fishing but can you bank fish at the launch?

Legally, no since the gates are closed. But just about everytime I pass by there’s someone parked at the gate and fishing by the weir

Any word when they are going to open? Sure hope they open up Sabine NWR next year for duck season, the other refuge was a real SHITE show........

I've heard March but thats just hearsay. The walkway along the bank is still damaged from the storm so I imagine they'd have fix that before they open it back up for liability reasons.

No money to fix anything on either NWR (Sabine/Cameron Prairie). Visitors center at CP will not be rebuilt per manager, same happened after Rita with Sabine. There used to be multiple wardens patrolling on Sabine but i haven't seen one in ten years. Easier for them to keep it closed with the manpower shortage they have.
