You missed my poor attempt at sarcasm! Garza and Mathis were admittedly below average defensively in 2019. Mathis started 40 games and was charged with 11 PBs... horrible stat. My point is that 2 in 13 games is also a bad stat for what many are claiming is an elite defensive catcher. I’ve watched him play and agree that he has good skills, and a true freshman starting at catcher for LSU an extremely difficult position to play and excel in. This is a big year for him both offensively and defensively to see what we’ve got with him.
