Yeh I have heard people complaining about doing that and denting the tailgate lol. The dodge swing out door on the tailgate seems interesting but I don't think I would like it. My ford bed step has been opened twice and both times were because my 70 year old father wanted to see it because he thinks its the coolest thing he's ever seen
. All due respect to Ford but that thing is an accident waiting to happen that'll leave broken parts rattling around inside the tailgate.

It's all a bunch of marketing to me. I've owned trucks for almost 30 years and never thought that we needed massive improvements to a tailgate. Locking with the doors is the most useful feature I've seen.
