I had one and that is what I always said the BSA stood for with its quirky electric parts that would fail at the most inopportune times. Same with many of the early Triumphs and their Zener diodes going bad.

My ‘69 Triumph Bonneville would burn out the zener diode about every 4 months. Bought one from RadioShack for a tenth of the price and never had to change it again. Lucas electrical parts were very hit or miss, quality control sucked.
