Massive wealth redistribution doesn't work because you start to destroy the profit motive and all incentive. If the government confiscates all of Jeff Bezos' wealth, who would want to spend their life building an empire?

Capitalism isn't a perfect system but it's created the greatest standard of living in human history.

I’ve scrolled past the word “incentive” too many times. Incentive to do what? Achieve personal wealth? Incentive to work? Most people would not want to be lazy and unproductive all their lives. I'm a lazy person in many ways, but eventually I want to do something and be useful. Doing nothing for a very long time sucks. Many doctors like what they do, I believe there would be people who would choose to be doctors, lawyers, engineers and other members of a productive society. The socialist motto is each according to their ability, to each according to their work"
its "to their need". It was a “duty, or right” to work. The only retort I can say to that is whether it would restrict personal liberties. The liberty TO BE LAZY. But the ‘no incentive’ notion imo is a misconception.
