Riots were more rampant under Trump’s tenure more than any president in modern history. Is it not reasonable to attribute some amount of responsibility to the president this amount of civil unrest occurred under?
All those things are true. Even his supporters can’t deny it, tho they’ll likely blame it on the “deep state” or “swamp” rather than the president himself. To me, its mind-blowing that there are people who genuinely believe than 2021 America is doing better than 2017 America.
The amount of people saying “fantastic” or “better-off” is really unsettling to me. You can support Trump, that’s cool, but Jesus...
New York fumbled the ball and is still having a hard time picking it back up. California’s governor has been caught attending mass gatherings and is apart of the problem than the solution. But what about Biden’s plan? I think it sounds feasible. I doubt everything laid out will work, but I believe it will help. Him simply having a plan imo is a step in the right direction.
Can you elaborate? In your analogy, I’m assuming you’re comparing America right now to being a “crisp Saturday morning”. With everything going on, how is that accurate?
I already said it wasn’t preventable, but I think his lies regarding the pandemic caused people to not take it as serious. Many people actually believed him when he suggested it was a “hoax” and it’ll “disappear like a miracle”.
America is doing fantastic in 2021? I can think of a lot of adjectives to describe the country, but fantastic is one I wouldn’t use. And how has the dems been in “full control” since Covid started? I really can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not.
I already have my personal opinion. I just wanted to hear from the pro-Trump crowd.
Yea I know covid was a thing. It wasn’t preventable, tho personally I think the former president could’ve done a helluva lot better job at handling. But I’m not just talking about the economy. What about America’s image to the world or Americans’ faith in our government? How did he impact the US political climate?
Lol, I lurk this site a lot, tho I only made one topic. I’m debating making a second topic sharing the comments I have seen from all the right-wingers on this site championing death camps, genocide, Neo-nazism, white supremacy, the destruction of American democracy, overthrowing the government, and other things that would make a ‘normal’ person sick to their stomach and things that probably wouldn’t be said if not for the safety of a random internet username to see what they think about it. I would get downvoted to heck, but I would be nice to cast a mirror on some of these people on this site.
I’ll look into him. I always found it weird that some of socialism’s most prominent critics were former Soviets. Many of them claim they were brainwashed by the USSR propaganda machine. I like the Gospel point you brought up. Do you have a source for that because I always believe the USSR tried to be as secular as possible. They even pledged to eradicate evangelicalism. Though many people that support socialism say Jesus was a socialist to some extent since his works was for the benefit of the poor not the wealthy. He advocated for redistribution of wealth. And Christianity teaches the love of money is the root of all evil; that’s opposite of the capitalistic notion that profit should be everyone’s drive to succeed. Do you think Jesus fits some criteria of being a socialists?
Censorship =/= communism. Of course censorship is almost always present in countries that strive to be communist, because the government wants the citizens do believe that socialism is for the good, and a governing body must have the support of the people to survive. But that’s every form of government. Censorship if left unchecked can plague any country. We saw it in fascist Germany. We saw it in socialist USSR. And its showing its head in capitalist USA. I don’t mostly agree with what Twitter is doing, but its naive to think its not being permitted by the free market. Its a private company that doesn’t have to abide by all the same rules as the government. I think censorship, like corruption, can plague any form of government if left unchecked.
Independent is not a spectrum lol. Its either you are or are not. I’m not.
I mean I don’t affiliate with either party. I’m a leftist because I lean left politically, but I’m not a registered Democrat because I abhor the idea of political parties.
What I’m saying is I don’t think the top 5% should even have to pay 60% of the bill. If the bottom 90 percent of families hold less than one-quarter of all wealth, its no wonder tax rates are so progressive.

If wealth inequality is so large that it comes to that, there’s problems that exist in society outside of taxes. Considering the top %1 holds %40 of the wealth and have around %43 of the tax burden sound somewhat fair to me. Couple that with the fact that the top %1 benefit the most from government investments and subsidiaries, its no surprise that they would have a heavier burden. That said, I think the glaring wealth inequality is the much larger issue and progressive taxes is like putting a lousy bandaid on it.
China steals technology for the same reason they use child labour. Its cheaper. The CCP is not something to be revered tho. But could there be other reasons behind the drive to innovate besides profit? If everyone’s basic needs are met, can the task itself be worthy and fulfilling? What if the American dream was centered around doing your part in society instead of personal gain? Could that work?
I should’ve clarified I’m not a socialist. I’m just trying to better understand arguments against it. But is it not extreme to ask for someone’s net worth before listening to their opinion?
I’m sorry. I’m trying to respond to so many comments. I appreciate facts and graphs. I respond back as soon I as look at your previous replies.
Is China socialist? The worker’s don't control the means of production. The trade unions are all controlled by the state not the proletariat. North Korea calls themselves Democratic People's Republic of Korea but they are anything but democratic right?
Tribalism is certainly a thing in politics. Contrary to your assumption, I’m an independent not because of my political leanings. But because I believe the party system is undemocratic in nature. I agree that voter bases from both sides usually get duped by the people they vote in simply because “muh party”. I wish we could do away with parties completely but that’ll never happened in my lifetime.
Why is that important? Is a person’s knowledge always valued by their net worth?
Healthcare quality =/= healthcare system. Our healthcare quality is unparalleled by anyone. I don’t think anyone is saying the quality of healthcare is an issue, but its the access the healthcare. Our healthcare system is what the problem is. Its not a leftist idea either. People across the spectrum in the US agree that our healthcare system is crappy for a 1st world, developed country. The dissension exist because people disagree on how to fix it.
How so? Cuba has the doctors per capita rate in the world.
Lol. I as left-wing as allowed in the current US political climate. But I think our tax system is mostly fine barring the tax evasion that’s allowed for rich people. The biggest issue is where our tax money goes.
Lol I am, but I made this account to strictly ask questions and hear the conservative take. I have a separate account strictly for talking Alabama football. The downvotes are alot, but I’m not trying to troll.
That’s why I said I WOULD invite you to research the history of those countries, but instead look at the US. Of course, capitalism has mostly worked great for our country. But has it worked for everyone? I’m not going to list every problem in our country. But the incarceration rate, homelessness, and food insecurity stand out. Over 14 million Americans have food insecurity yet the US is one of the most wasteful countries. If capitalism can’t solve these glaring problems, what’s the next step?
What if the idea of natural selection doesn’t apply to human society? One of the things that separates humans from the rest of nature is our ability to work together and form a collective society. If you truly believe that “survival of fittest” should be applied to human society, would you be okay with anarchy and the dissolving of the government since its primary reason of existence is to provide for its ALL of its citizens?
Checks and balances. I think it can be applied to socialism and this should apply to every form of government. Even capitalism. The monopolies we have today in the US is not good for the consumer. Net neutrality for instance is an example of checks and balances against something that dilutes innovation. Yet, a lot of times when checks and balances are sought to be put in place, people call doing so ‘socialism’. So I ask, can checks and balances being installed in a capitalist society without being socialist in nature?
