College football is becoming the NBA where only 7-8 teams really have a chance at the title year in and year out. There’s no excitement to watch SEC School vs Ohio St/Clemson every single year
They’re going to have to expand the playoffs at some point to start giving some of these other teams a chance in order to get new viewers watching. 98% chance you’ll never get a Loyola-Chicago, George Mason, Davidson type of Cinderella run in football but the chance has to be given.

the games are blowouts, expanding the playoffs will only make it worse.
this year
#5 A&M was already blown out by #1
#6 OU is blowout every year in the playoff, gave up 7 TDs in the 1st half last year
#7 lost two games in a row, including last week #1
