Another thing to consider—and it may be that Bieniemy just wanted nothing to do with interviewing for that job—is that BOB fricked them so bad that even with Watson, that’s just not a desirable gig right now. Especially if McNair sucks.

On Bienemy The last sentence is plausible but we’ll see if he gets a HC job where he goes and if he’s holding out for a certain job not wanting to work for certain owners in the current climate I’d think he want to let that be known even if it’s behind the scenes.

As far as the Texans, yes OBrien made some awful trades and it definitely puts them in a bad spot but (and I know people hate woulda couldas :lol;) but they could have easily won 7-8 games this year with minor tweaks but that aside a competent GM and good coach could have them around 8 wins next year and a chance to be back in contention with Watson.

pretty naive if they thought he (or even the best owner in the NFL) was going to let a 25-year-old, 4th-year QB have significant input into the hiring of the 2 most important non-player positions of a $3 billion franchise.

I agree you shouldn’t let a player make the hire but if you told him you value his input then a courtesy call to let him know who you hired is a bare minimum. Blow smoke up is arse and tell him you liked his suggestions but decided to go another direction but to not call at least is total incompetence
