When China Ruled the Seas is a nice view on Amazon Video.

China sailed to & traded with Africa, Middle East , Red Sea, etc.....but never made an attempt to colonialize these regions like lesser European powers. Never attempted to subjugate its neighbor ( India) like Britain. Outside of its immediate borders( Tibet) or with groups like the Mongols & Manchurians who initially invaded /ruled China they have had little interest in global expansion like Europeans.

Because the Chinese were racist elitists on a level incomparable to any known western civilization. Marco Polo doesn't even get to put a foot on their soil, if the Khan had not pacified China.

And also, because they spent their entire lives in life or death conflicts with each other. . .not to mention the Steppe hordes that sprung up like clockwork.

Euros experienced more and longer stretches of peace, without any real existential threats, which facilitated colonization and more exploration.

Episode 8 of the 2020 season of "Curse of Oak Island" they had a numismatist (coin expert) date a Chinese coin found on the island as made between 400BC to 900AD. That places Chinese on the East Coast of North America (Oak Island is slightly NE of Maine) 1,100 years ago or more.
