Wanted to bump this to check in. Hoping all is alright. My wife is pregnant as well. We did remote learning for our son through the riskier portion of the pregnancy (wife has had several early miscarriages and we took precautions). But son will start going to school this week. The holidays, son going to school, me partially returning to the office for work....was just wondering your experiences dealing with it and a pregnancy. Again, been thinking about your situation and hoping all is well.

So sorry I didn’t give an update.

She had low grade fever on and off since Friday. Negative test on Sunday when fever started being higher. Fever kept spiking to 103-104 every 6 hours when the meds wore off. I made her go to the urgent care on Tuesday night and She tested positive. heart rate was really high so they kept her and gave iv fluids to try and keep her out of the ER. It didn’t go down so they sent her. She had every test under the sun and they couldn’t figure out why the heart rate wouldn’t go down still. Everything else looked normal and baby looked good from what they could tell then. Chest X-ray and lungs were normal. She started getting shortness of breath on Thursday and a nurse called and sent her back to the Er.

This is where things got scary:

They admitted her and did another chest X-ray that revealed severe pneumonia in that 1.5 day period. Heart rate was above 140 and she now relied on oxygen to keep her numbers above 90%.Started her on remdisivir and tons of antibiotics. Each day she got a little better with heart rate going down a bit and was less reliant on the oxygen. She was released from the hospital this afternoon and back home. As far as we know everything is fine with our baby . The Dr was in constant communication with the OB and made sure all treatments were safe for the baby. This last week was scary as frick . I totally underestimated this virus and just thought it would be a flu type sickness. This isn’t the case for pregnant woman since they fall under immunocompromised.

Thanks for the thought and here’s praying that we can both have non eventful pregnancies from here on out.
