They, Cole Haan and Floresheim used to be great American made shoes. All China and India now. Just can't do that. (Nike destroyed Cole Haan). Allen Edmonds (which are most all still made in America) is almost always on sale (Calerese is trying to kill a great brand here) or just save up and get some Aldens.

I have 3 pairs of Allen Edmonds and they've held up well. You can occasionally find them on sale for sub $200. Alden's are more expensive than I'm willing to pay for shoes.

Totally agree with you about J&M. However, the Aristocrafts are still well made and harken back to their better days.

For $139, that is a good price and a good cobbler can recraft the shoe when it wears down.

Yeah, I haven't worn much in the way of dress shoes this years but I"ve bought boots. AE has some good sales right now on boots, especially the Pattons and Hamiltons. I've got several pair of Higgins Mills and love wearing them this time of year.

One day we will return to normal. Going to need decent shoes then. ;-)

Waldorf: AE quietly moved Domincian production back to the US this year. I think one reason for the sales is they are pulling out of the nonAE retail. Dillards, Brooks Brothers, and Nostrum quit carrying them. No more middleman so that is an expense cut out.
