A lot talk about “O Haters.” I really don’t think there are a lot of true Coach O haters. It would be silly to hate someone that was a focal part (whether you believe it or not) of the best college football team of all time.

But that shouldn’t mean you give a pass when that same coach is so self-destructive in his personal life that it effectively tears down everything in LSU’s football program that he has built since he was hired.

It’s okay to love Coach O and realize that it’s time to move forward with new leadership. He has alienated his coaching staff multiple times since coming to LSU. And now it is seeping into the players as well. I have no confidence in him “fixing” a situation that is almost entirely his doing.

It was good, he’s changed. The success has clearly gotten to his head. Time to move on

Seeing how many (probably PirateQueer) are raining downvotes on this post, this is exactly what they are thinking

He hasn't changed, he's reverted. People's core personalities don't change after they reach adulthood. A man can force himself into a new role for a while, but it's rarely permanent. He nearly always falls back into the old patterns.

He's not an elite coach, and everyone knows it. The question is, what to do about it and when do you do it?

The personal destruction & poor judgement are my concerns.

Get a divorce? OK, pretty common.

Immediately start bedding down with 30 something blondes, then taking bedroom selfies? Poor judgement.

Hiring a HC that hasn’t been a DC in years & that no other program was pursuing? Poor judgement.

Not replacing a young, dynamic PGV with one similar to him? Poor judgement.

Not playing along with the PC world of BLM & all that other noise to show solidarity with the players? Poor judgement.

Can CEO improve his decision-making quickly in the hyper-competitive SEC?

Time will tell.

LSU never had a 15-0 season until O got here.

LSU never made a CFP game until O got here.

LSU’s last undefeated season was 1958 until O got here.

I’ll gladly take the implosion.

Replace O with Burrow/Brady and you’re on to something.

I’m willing to let the man right the ship but if he knew negative stuff about our players and covered it up I can’t forgive that.

This isn't necessarily the issue as much as it was how much we paid the guy which is more of an issue with the AD.

Yes coach O has made some poor decisions (matt cananda, Jerry Sullivan, bo pelini. Linehan) but he has also made some good decisions as well in Joe Brady, greg mcmahon, Bill busch (people say that was arandas doing but O is the head coach so just as much as he gets the criticism for everything he also gets the credit), bringing in Calloway and Munoz.

I think this offseason O convinced himself that coach E could continue what Brady brought in and bringing in Linehan to possibly help expand it a lil bit with some different NFL concepts. Obviously that hasn't worked out and on defense he just made a bad hire but if we were all honest with ourselves no one saw that hire being this bad.

If O isn't fired due to the title IX issues in the athletic department then he has earned one more season and to make the staff decisions to save his job. He's shown the ability to make good hires but just hasn't been consistent with that.

It was literally this year that he won a national title and he has the #3 class in the country.

Nothing he does on the field will get him fired and anyone who wants to fire a coach a year after producing the most draft picks, most first rounders ever, best team of all time is a fricking moron.

I have no regrets about it either. I’ve always thought he was better than Fedora, Fuentes, et al. I felt at worst, he’d recruit well, modernize the offense, etc. I wasn’t convinced he could make us a contender but he found Burrow and Brady.
Now I’m of the opinion that he is fools gold. There’s little substance to his head coaching abilities. Burrow was a “blind squirrel” happening.

Championship got to his head. He's no longer aggressive, and is just passively there. He made the moves necessary to get to the top, then spiked the ball to early.

I have zero regrets, loved what he was doing to get to the top, but dislike what has happened afterwards. I'll take the championship.
