People have this completely backwards

Coach O didn’t play politics which is why the players are mad. Coach O simply wanted football so he gave positive news about the Democrat governor and Republican president in order to say football would be ok

That’s literally not being political. Then he didn’t go to the protest because that is political as well

The players are just soft as I could ever imagine if there is any truth to this. I think O has sucked this year, but if this is the crop of players he was dealing with he had no shot to have a football team worth a shite

You’re completely skipping the part where he went on Fox News and said good things about Trump.

Look, I don’t care either, but to just gloss over that is willful ignorance. The players obviously saw that and i have no doubt it played a role, particularly in combination with skipping the protests, as you mentioned.

100% truth. Orgeron is a very political guy in the social sense but not in a partisan or policy sense (outside of it affecting football). It's why he's praised JBE (and helped with the mask/COVID PR), and why he's been complimentary of the President, who is in fact a republican.

I'm critical of him but it's amazing how cowardly the fans in this thread are being, like Orgeron is supposed to be scared to do stuff to advance LSU football or honor the office of the president, just because it's a republican and the players are black. Some of yall are pussies.

I think the problem with it boiled down to it was portrayed as something very differently than it actually was, and you had the loudest people in the room like Ryan Clark making Orgeron look bad. Most college kids are going to see what's plastered on their twitter feeds and not pay as much attention to what was actually said and look much further into it. That's how the Orgeron comments about Trump came to be cast in such a negative light. And we saw how they were received by players in that age group based on some tweets by guys like Chaisson. It was completely unfair to Orgeron, but it is what it is, and that's kind of where we are as a society now. It matters very little the context of comments, but more so how they are presented on social media and the likes. We saw the same type thing with Gundy wearing a t-shirt on a fishing trip with his sons. You pretty much have to either bend the knee, or you're not doing what you're supposed to do.
