It's ridiculous that Kofi was arrested for vehicular homicide when there was no discussion at all about intoxication.
The only way you can be arrested/convicted of vehicular homicide in Louisiana is if you're intoxicated.
Hit and run involving a death would be the charge:
It's still a felony, but they act like it's murder in the show. The charge has no minimum sentence/fine.
At least get a consultant that knows Louisiana law.

La. R.S. 14:100:
Whoever commits the crime of hit-and-run driving, when death or serious bodily injury is a direct result of the accident and when the driver knew or should have known that death or serious bodily injury has occurred, shall be fined not more than five thousand dollars or imprisoned with or without hard labor for not more than ten years, or both.

Son, N'awlins is like a gumbo. We bury our dead above ground after a jazz procession and we live in shotgun houses. Don't expect to run through the streets because we always have a Mardi Gras parade or a Red Dress Run going. Rules are like donuts, only in N'awlins we call them beignets.
Hyaw, hyaw, hyaw, nah come onh back soon nyaw.
