I'm getting my wife a new laptop for Christmas.
Any preferences on the above brands?
She will only be surfing the web.
Thanks...

Lenovo ThinkPads are a total workhorse.
I have a carbon and love it. I can run everything from email, YouTube to CAD with ease.
If it’s just surfing the web, get a chromebook.

Just get her a chromebook. It will be perfect for that. Anything else is overkill.
Chromebooks run from $200-$2,000.

Don't look at brands because they all have stinkers. You need to look at a specific model, style, OS, costs, etc.
If you really want a lightweight, Windows machine, get a Dell XPS 13. If you want Mac, stick with an Air. If you're looking for something a little more beefy like a workstation, the HP Elitebook 840 and Lenovo Thinkpad L14 are at the top of the list. If you want lightweight AND powerful, I really like the Thinkpad X1 Carbons.
If web browsing is really all that's going to happen on this machine, it's tough to beat the Lenovo Flex 5 or HP x360 14c. The Pixelbook Pro has better battery life and a more high-end feel if you are looking for something nicer, but it's about $250 more as well. If you want something with a larger screen, I have read up that the HP Chromebook 15 is the way to go.
