It was a warning on the top of TDA screen, but I didn't buy or sell so don't know exactly what it was about. I did just find this, and after reading it, it makes sense to have those restrictions in place. And it is only because of the shorts being 40% +/- over sold.

Ameritrade isn't allowing the opening of any short positions against these stocks, regardless of whether or not you're hedged like I am. Any short calls that expire ITM where the seller is due to be put the stock, Ameritrade will close the short position because they don't have any stock to short.

It seems to me like this will make the short issue even worse, which will cause the stock to go up. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
