thats the thing about masks and the mandates though
on an individual level, they work to some degree
2 people wearing masks reduce chances of exposure on a 1 on 1 level
but when you look at it at on a population level, it obviously doesn't work
people don't wear them correctly, people don't wear them 24/7, we don't wear them around family and friends, not all masks are effective as others, etc
there are just so many variable that go into human activity/movement, that it is impossible to mandate away risks

Like I said, washing your hands is the best thing you can do to protect yourself short of staying home 24/7
