First off, I would like to apologize for not doing this sooner, but I just finished watching the show.
The challenge this week was to design a day to evening outfit for Brooke Shields character on Lipstick Jungle (one of my fave shows)! The winning design will actually be worn by Wendy this season.
All of the designers had 30 minutes to sketch and then they met with Brooke. After the meeting, she chose 6 designs and those 6 were allowed to pick a partner.
Okay, maybe it's just me, but does the talent level seem to be a bit down this year? Maybe it's the taste. I'm not loving designs like I normally do.
The winning design this week:
I thought that this dress was stunning, but I didn't really see the day to even transition of it. It's very high-end and elegant, but it simply looks like evening wear to me. The chocolate diaphanous skirt is gorgeous. Great pedastal for the floral chiffon.
Losing design:
For evening, she was supposed to shed the jacket to reveal a leapord midriff tank trimmed in that odd blue color. It could've been very cute, but it came off looking cheap and tawdry.
My favorite:
I absolutely love this dress and would wear it in a heartbeat if I could pull off this color pallet. It looks so high-end New Yorker to me. It didn't win because Brooke wasn't crazy about the belt, but the other judges swooned over it.
I also hated this one:
The colors are just awful. The orange is a jacket that is meant to be removed for night. What it manages to hide in this picture is how poorly constructed the top part of the dress was.
These were the other two designs:
Yet another bare midriff and wayyy too casual. The Bermuda shorts were an innovative idea for the character, but he would've had to make the right fabric and color choices to pull it off. He didn't and it turned out to be way too casual.
I actually like this look - except for the belt.
Thoughts?

I was very surprised that this one did not win. To me, it was by far the best.
That was my favorite as well, Sam! But Brooke Shields said that she didn't like the belt and ultimately, the outfit is for her character on her show. But I will say that it's one of the few times that I really disagreed with the winner.
Are you still liking the show?

I love it. I never thought I would be interested in it until I read your thread that night. Now, I have it set on my DVR.

Glad to hear it! It's my favorite reality competition show! If you get a chance, check out the other seasons! There have been some amazingly talented designers!

See...again...if you would just learn to cook kiddo, you wouldn't have time for this! ;-)

You have got to be kidding me! You're just out of your mind and have no appreciation for fashion.
The other doesn't even deserve recognition.

I am male. I wear what I need to wear for:
1) Environmental protection
2) Work
I stay conventional. Fashion...I'm in Spokanastan. Fashion is bathing every day.

If the devil can cook, does that mean that cooking is evil and I'm doing the right thing by not cooking??

I'm very disappointed with the lack of support for Project Runway on this board!

Without evil there would be no good, so it must be good to be evil sometimes.

For some reason I am less into this season though than I have been in the past. I am also more of a "Top Chef" guy, but for some reason these Bravo reality shows have a way of sucking me in (and I watch them with my wife so please hold all the ghey comments to a minimum

Same here. I talked about it a little in this weeks post. It just doesn't seem like the talent level and creativity is on par with seasons past. Or maybe it's just crappy personalities...

Damn Princess... I don't like any of those, really.
