-Big Ten bands are typically a cut above other conference’s bands. I’d say it’s like SEC and football. Top to bottom, you’ll find the most good bands in that conference.

-Texas A&M marches as well as anybody in the nation, granted they have the military background and they do the same drills over and over. They sounds among the worst in the South/Southwest. I don’t think you can major in music there, which doesn’t help things.

-I can appreciate what HBCU bands offer, but it’s more of a production and less of a marching band. Their marching style and sound quality lends itself to a lesser performance than what you’d see from a typical marching band. Their drumlines can also be quite different. With that said, they can definitely entertain. It’s tough to compare what Southern, Grambling, FAMU, etc do to what Ohio State does.

-Stanford is a joke. They don’t offer anything redeeming from a musical or marching sense. Their greatest contribution is pranking Notre Dame by doing a show mocking the Irish Potato Famine...
