Hardly. This state has been sliding into the realm of the irreversibly damaged for years. We have academically underachieved for decades as politicians, school boards and educators sat by pointing fingers at every boogey man they could imagine to avoid responsibility for their derelict behavior and professional malpractice. Some Parents have been complicit in this behavior as well. But by and large, most parents want what’s best for their kids. What has happened?
We’ve continued to reside in the cellar of achievement. And now Covid has allowed these same groups to inflict (what I believe will prove to be) an irreparable injury to the very people who will be future residents, workers, and voters of this state.

Can you imagine the types of choices and decisions these uneducated and poorly educated people
Make if/when they vote? Can you imagine what type of employer will want to set up shop and hire people who, thru no fault of their own, were deprived of the very minimal educational requirements established by a
State who has underperformed academically for decades?

What has been perpetrated on students in the last ten months in the name of safety and Covid, is beyond criminal. It should be reported to Amnesty International as a form of abuse.

For that reason, I opined as I did above. There is no hope for this state. It’s fate has been sealed by people more interested in personal gain and usurping their obligations and done so at the expense of people they claim to serve.

But hey, there’s always tourism, the Saints, plants, and the Tigers. And we got drive thru daiquiris and crawfish. So it’s all Good, right?
