You’re absolutely right, on the last TD they crucified him for seeing ghost, but like you said he never fully left the pocket and slid back towards the middle when he saw there wasn’t pressure.

And if you can keep your eyes downfield and slide in the pocket with a good base to throw it may open throwing angles. Burrow was a master at this.

This is exactly right! He’s fresh out of HS and that HS wasn’t exactly one of the best teachers. For him to be doing the things he is with very little time and understanding, is quite amazing imo.

Now it’s going to be up to him to do what he needs and more so that he can perfect his craft. At the same time the OL needs to get better. If these two things happen then he’s going to improve greatly from years 1 to 2. This is great experience for him as well. It’s building his confidence.

I think LSU or Orgeron really needs to be looking for another Joe Brady. Someone that is mature but innovative and not from the old school of thought. Someone who can work with the QBs and WRs to create some excitement and cohesion. I hope coach O recognizes this and doesn’t just chalk it up to new players and Covid19 opt outs. Even if we just look for a QB guru / assistant who has the ability to recruit and call plays in a spread offense.

I just think Steve E. needs that young style innovative play caller next to him for this to work. You can promise him the job once Steve E is done. That shouldn’t be too much longer. Idk maybe the new guy Scott Linehan wasn’t afforded enough time to work with and put his stamp on the offense yet and can get it done but I’d be at least looking hard at several people to come in and replace him. If Arkansas would have had its full DL, I don’t think the outcome would have been so positive for LSU. We need someone who will work hands on and motivate these guys to be great and I just don’t see that this year.

I think Pelini will be fine once he gets settled in and the scheme has been here a couple of years. Plus he’ll be recruiting his type of players for his scheme. We need to be getting bigger but quick lineman who are dogs, especially for the DE spot. I think Pelini knows the type. The linebackers we have coming will fit this scheme better as well as the DBs we have coming, mainly the safeties. I think we’ll be fine at QB. We have some major talent here already and also on the way.
