Unless I'm missing something, 4 years ago, he signed a 4yr/$100 million contract.

Not crazy about not having the cap space next year but I don't think we would have been good enough to attract a max player yet. Smart long term move. Solidify your front court for 3 years until Jax is ready.

It's not a good deal for the Pels, but it's in the "I can live with it" price range.
