Traditional Family Cocktail
2oz Maker's Mark (kept in the freezer)
1oz Dry Sparkling Wine (cold from the ice chest)
Splash of Grenadine (out of the fridge)
1 Maraschino cherry (the bright red ones, not the fancy dark ones)
Pour all liquid ingredients into a flute and swirl to stir. Garnish with abnormally colored bright red Maraschino cherry.
Friends, I'll spare you the details of how this became our family's annual cocktail. You can adjust the proportion of spirit to sparkling to fit your taste buds. Typically we drink these when visiting my parents for Christmas.
