If you want to hook to power, get the ring pro. It still beats any of the battery powered devices. Yes preroll is huge for battery powered devices or else you may only end up capturing someone's back as they turn to leave your door.

What is preroll? Mine is a Ring 2 just running off of battery. But I might get a newer one for out front and put this one in the back of the house.
