In my family, my siblings and I (3 kids) owned accords as our first car.
1994: we bought 2nd hand in 2000, the car was sold in 2011
2000: we bought 2nd hand in 2002, the car was sold in 2015
2008: we bought brand new, the car was sold in 2020
each car had 200k miles+, each one never had major engine or tranny issues. routine maintenance: oil change, filters, spark plugs, etc. that's about it.
reliable is a vast understatement. but its just a basic, get it done care. no great bells or whistles.
What I will say is the engine is about efficiency these days (I think engines after 2014 or so) which makes the drive not "enjoyable". suspension isn't as great as previous either, but those are things we're comparing to more expensive cars at this point.
If i want a car that will get me 25+MPG, lasts me 10 years, I'd get an accord again.
