Is this a known problem with Honda’s? I’ve never had one before.

CVTs tend to have issues a few years down the road generally speaking. Not to mention the drone and rubber band acceleration.

Yeah they are notoriously unreliable and costly to fix when they break (like any transmission)
I’ve had a few Altima rentals with the CVT, and my last one felt like it was about to go out (less than 20K miles)
Granted, Nissan has been notoriously unreliable ever since Renault acquired them, but trust me, stay away from any vehicle that has a CVT
