My daughter went to school there last year as a Freshman. She would come home and tell me all the liberal ideologies that they were teaching. She knew better went they strayed out of teaching to trying to indoctrinate them. Over this past summer, she decided to changed schools and go to St. Michael. I asked her a few weeks ago if she had any regrets, and she said absolutely no regret, it was the best move ever. I've quietly told a few people, but after this came out. I've shown it to them. I can honestly say, my daughter enjoyed her time at SJA, but now that she has changed schools, she says St. Michael is so much more better than SJA. There is no indoctrinating at St. Michael.....The grass IS GREENER on the other side of SJA. Call St. Michael, go on a tour, and see for yourself.

SJA is a beautiful school with great faculty, but it has the mindset of a small liberal university. There’s a lot of great things about the school, but the liberal based social justice warrior ideology is strong. When you look at all these protests and wondering why its full of young white girls, this is how that happens.

It started years ago with some of the nuns getting into teaching some new age type practices (reiki yoga, etc) and it’s been continuing since. For a catholic based school it leans pretty far left.

Speaking to students that are there now, these recent classes have only caused further division among the conservative and liberal student population, some about this thread.

You make the best point of anyone on this board. People need to realize that SMHS is a great option.

SMHS is considered the best coed Catholic high school in Baton Rouge. That is where the superlatives end.

They have an extremely high rate of students in summer school; more than any other local school. They take pride in failing students. SMHS's handbook includes archaic, biased hair grooming rules. They do not have diversity in leadership or in the classroom. In 2019, during Louisiana's race for governor there were many teachers who openly supported Mr. Rispone and used class time to discuss.Bumper stickers on employees cars was prevalent. My children would not attend SMHS once they graduate 8th grade.
