Naturally, I don't take anything for granted these days. But as a kid, the Braves had just won the World Series, and were so close to going back to back. This was in the middle of the Jordan 6 championships era of the Bulls, and so I had this naive idea in my head that the best team was going to win almost every year. With the horses the Braves had, I didn't dream of what was coming for the next 24 years.
I know a lot more now than I did then, of course. The only thing that makes it easier, is I've come to pretty much expect it. But this was the first time we sniffed the World Series since '99. That '01 NLCS was over before it started. So this one hurt more than anything I've felt as a Braves fan in a long time.
