Why can’t people realize this?
bc some of understand that those 41 points in back to back weeks were like Hardin scoring a bunch of points in regular season but can't get it done in the playoffs. We failed every single 3rd down against Mizzou and couldn't punch it in 4x from the 1. The offense clearly has problems. And those were crappy defenses.

By your own admission, and obviously through no fault of the current coaching staff, we have yet to face a defense that is worth a damn, i.e. we have a small sample size. How about we at least play the fourth game of the season before we dismiss them as failures?

Yes 3rd down conversions are an issue. One that is in need of addressing, not cleaning house. As for the goal line failure, that was horrible. Do realize though the play calling and execution on that drive leading up to the first and goal was spot on. They drove the field, saved a timeout, burned clock to bail out the defense and were in position to go ahead and leave Missouri with no time. We had scored earlier from the four by running the same two plays we ran on first and second down. On the last drive Shanahan got beat badly on both run plays or we score.

Hell, if York doesn't drive his previous attempt into the arse of the center, we have a chip shot FG for the win.

The offense does have some issues. The playcalling to end the game was really bad. O doubt about that. However, if you go back and watch 3rd downs in the game, the calls weren’t the whole story. Execution was also a big issue.

We had 3rd down conversion passes past the sticks dropped at least twice. Emery dropped a screen that possibly gets converted. We had two screens that were the right calls vs the blitz that the D stopped a yard or two short at least once, maybe twice.

Bottom line- if the players do their jobs and catch the ball, we convert at least 3 or 4 and with execution like last year, we maybe hit 50%. While you can blame the staff for the drops, the players have to share in it, especially with how good they were in this phase of the game last year.

Also, while I didn’t like the team running the same run play twice on the goal line, how the hell is our O Line so poor that they can’t push a Mizzou front 7 missing guys back and get the score. We should have only run that play once, if at all, but that’s partially on the O Line, as well.

I think this needs to be E’s last season as OC, but he’s not the only issue. Better execution of simple assignments would have won the game.

Of course it has problems. Callaway should be the PGC
Linehan is an old idiot
But did you really expect it to be a well oiled machine after all we lost last year with no spring?
The offense gets a B right now but the defense is an F
so of course people are going to talk more about the defense
