Just like I posted in the other thread, just use common sense about when you go out. Some of these guys are talking like Venice is some special dangerous place to fish. Its not much different than any other place. Can the river be dangerous? Sure it can, when you have 25-30 mph winds, but you won't be out on days like that anyway. Can you hit a sandbar that shifted? Sure, just like anyone else who has been down there 1,000 times and can't do anything about it. Can you get swamped from a tanker loaded down pushing a 4-6' wake? Sure, if you don't know how to handle a boat but that has nothing to do with Venice. Can a storm blow up on you and make conditions difficult? Sure, but you can generally see that coming and get out before it gets rough. Went down the river for years in a 17' aluminum express with a 115 hp motor and never felt unsafe. Go out 12 miles in a 21' express all the time and never feel unsafe. I dont know how far out MC109 is but again use common sense and you will be fine.

I feel the same way. There is just no way it can be as dangerous as these people make it out to be. I fish the terrebone bay 90% of the time I fish. I have gone out there in a 17' stratos bass boat in 2-3' chop and had to hug the bank. Not to mention the average depth in the terrebone bay is 3-4' with tons of bars. Ive kayaked in 2-3' seas in my hobies. Regardless of what these elitists think i will be prepared before I go, and it will be a glass calm day. Hell I don't like going out if the wind is over about 12mph its annoying.
