That would be a relatively unusual presentation of leukemia as the only abnormality of your CBC (complete blood count). The most likely cause of platelets less than ten is either pseudothrombocytopenia (an abnormality caused by the platelets clumping when collected in the collection tube) or, most likely, ITP (immune thrombocytopenic purpura), an autoimmune disease characterized by the body inappropriately recognizing platelets as foreign and destroying them.
