I live in Powdersville area of the metro area. Schools are great and I’m 10 minutes from downtown Greenville.
Housing is going up but still probably cheaper than almost anywhere in the US. Property taxes included.
Lots of amazing hiking nearby. Everything from easy hikes to hard strenuous hikes that will really challenge you. Great food scene also.
City limits of Greenville are really small but the metro area is over 1 million. I’m from the area but my wife is from Chicago and loves it. Very conservative and honestly a great place to live. I work for Delta and am based out of ATL and GSP airport is awesome. 20 min flight to ATL and then anywhere in the world from there. Other airlines also service other major cities like Chicago, Miami, Houston, etc. before COVID delta has directs to NYC. And cheap airlines like allegiant we service Florida directly.
Rarely any snow or ice. It does happen, but is rare. Honestly in terms of actually living there I think it’s one of the top places in the US. Other places are way cool to visit but to actually live Greenville is awesome.
