I think does need answering. Something doesn't make sense.
Seeing it live I thought Stingley was just focused on his cover with another guy shorter he was keeping an eye on.
But seeing this gif you can see him peek in towards RB after he's cut in and caught the ball. He was in his line of sight and you can see him turn his head (the part I missed live).
Stevens, that one baffles me. Cox went with his guy and was covering him pretty good. He was probably a clear out to get RB on S with safety back and RB catching short right behind clear out.
However, the cut to the inside happens right before the pass, he's running directly towards the opposite pylon as he catches the ball.
And here's where it gets weird. Stevens comes up some and drifts further outside the hash as the clear out happens, looking directly at the RB, and continues to drift after the cut.
And then the even weirder pull off. Which he may have done to avoid Harris (??) knowing he wasn't going to make the play. But you don't pull off like that if you're playing big boy football. You should be trained to meet at the ball.
Even though there is a plausible answer... it does look bad and to me, while it is explainable (above) it does tell you exactly what there mindset is. Keep in mind, that just tied the game. It wasn't like we were getting blown out or blowing them out.
