because most message board posters are young or stupid. It's what's seen as "cool" kind of like Y U Mad tho? was for a while back in teh days or calling people Karen is now. People just do it for no reason because they think they're supposed to with no actual thoguth behind it.
True, it is awful we've gone taht long wtihout a title but it's not unprecedented for a top ~13ish program to go that logn of a stretch, and that's the caliber of program we are. LSU went from 1958-2003. Ohio State went from 1968-2002. Texas went from 1970-2005. Michigan went from 1948-1997 (let that one sink in..since 1950 UGA and michigan both have 1 title). All of those schools are considered much more elite than we are except LSU, which we have generally been on an even footing with historically until the last decade. AU also went 50 years between their 2.
You want to know what's TRULY embarassing that people somehow ignore becuase "hurr durr muh 1980"? Tennessee going 20+ years without an SEC title. A national title is clearly the most difficult achievement in teh sport as you're competing with the entire country, and has been made even more difficult lately by having to win 2 games in 2 weeks aginast top 4 teams. The SEC, on the other hand, you are only competing with the 5-6 other teams in your division for a shot then have a 50/50 chance in a one-game scenario. Tennessee, despite being the 2nd best program in SEC history historically, hasn't won the league since 1998 and shows absolutely zero sign of ending that any time soon. What's more they haven't even played for a shot at it in 13 years, even south carolina has won the east more recently.

I would have never realized it had you not pointed it out, but it's blowing my mind that this gap was 45 years, and UGA is at a 40-year gap from 1980.
Of course, UGA got much closer in their drought than LSU did.

22 years is much more embarrassing than 40 years without a nc title. Without Cam, Auburn would be looking at 60ish gears.
