You're correct. I had the same issue finding field days in Louisiana. I believe Louisiana is doing away with the field day requirement next year, but from what I understand currently (a buddy knows the person in charge in Louisiana) the easy work around is to take Texas online and get your Texas card and Louisiana accepts a Texas certification. The site says "intended for Texas residents" and when you complete the class it asks for your address and there is a dropdown field for county that forces you to select a Texas county, but I just randomly selected one. It immediately issues you a temp card with an ID that you can use for your Louisiana hunting license. You pay $6 and they mail you a permanent card, but you can also access it online at any point. Disclaimer: I haven't purchased my license yet, so I can't confirm that it works with no trouble, but for $6 and a few hours online it was worth the risk. More education is never a bad thing anyway. I have heard that this should work fine though.
