The issue is that major expenses like housing, healthcare, and education have experienced dramatic increases in cost for certain people. It obviously depends on the market and the individual though. Ultimately, an increase in household income is only as good as what kind of life it affords you. We all benefit from things like cheaper electronics, but what about the major stuff that eats up more of your income? Some are doing better in that sense, but I think that's far less universal.
