I don’t see the Knicks willingly giving up 8 for what amounts to shedding Portis and getting Ball. It’s a MAYBE.

It's a fair point but we do know 3 things about the Knicks. They want name players, A and B list name players won't come their willingly, they want desperately to accelerate their timeline and gamble on short cuts whenever they can. They've operated that way with the last 2 GMs in place and the owner is still Dolan. Trading #8 for Lonzo seems like a very Knicks thing to do.

does OKC want to take on that much salary?

Gallo and Roberson come off the books and obviously won't be resigned which is big. Someone like Muscala probably opts out to find a better situation. I come up with $108.5 million for OKC after this trade, so it should be well below the tax, and they changed the rules so Portis couldn't get cut for a partial guarantee after being traded.

Pointless to move jrue just to get 35 cp3

Move ball, Moore, picks, loose favors miller, and then vets may come cheap to fill.
