quote:

Taxpayer money should NEVER be stolen and given to ANY private business.

That's a completely differen topic and has nothing to do with whether the city benefits economically or not.

Believe it or not, pro sorts teams have major positive externalities on the surrounding communities. It's not rocket science.

You do realize not every state has an income tax don't you ?

Who pays for all of the police that are needed on gameday ?

Is it the owner of the team or taxpayers ?

The impact of the area is still a net loser for the taxpayers. The taxpayers are funding and paying for the stadiums while the private businesses make all the money. Atlanta didn’t have to build a new sports stadium to host a major events and that is the folly. They never stopped hosting major events. Just cause they had it in the new stadium doesn’t mean they wouldn’t have gotten it otherwise. Sure Cobb county is making some money on the stadium but the state of Georgia would have gotten the tax revenue whether it was in Atlanta or in the suburbs.

Arthur Blank is a billionaire several times over. He retains all the profits from a stadium that the tax payer paid SEVEN HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS. Only in government can you work out such a bad deal. In the real world when someone owns 1/3 of something you make 1/3 of the money. If it were the other way around Arthur Blank would never accept it
