I think I've got it. I think maybe that wasn't his HIGHlights. They couldn't have been unless he has an 8-second hang time. 35.6 yd average. Are you kiddin me?

Has anyone determined whether or not he counts against the '08 or '09 class?

Lynx

I agree with you; especially with regards to the #'s of schollys available. Were you however, impressed with his "highlight" film? I wasn't. I'm asking you because you appear to be a Recruitnik, NOT a Recruitard!!!

I know, I WILL withhold FINAL judgement until later as this staff seems to know what they're doing. And they obviously know a WHOLE lot more than me (so does my young daughter.)

Im serious yall, I was at the Spring Game and the punting was atrocious. I am very worried already for this fall. I dont know if anyone has stats on the spring game but there was maybe one punt over 40 yards, the others were like 20. I hate to offer a punter especially a juco. But the situation must be that dire or that they know something we dont.

I said I hope....I didn't say that I'm worried that they won't be offered. Having said that, you're right. I DO worry too much. Thanks for reminding me!!! I guess I owe you a .....

I know you need a punter, but with limited schollies to give and two kickers on scholarship now with a phenomenal walk on coming in...

Well. If he could "handle it" then I'm sure they would have tried this. But seeing as though we just got a commitment from a Punter I wouldn't expect it. Take your loaded questions elsewhere.

yea LSU has been blessed with punters like Donnie Jones, Chris Jackson and Patrick Fisher recently. Some of you must not understand the importance of a good punter and how it will change games for us if we don't have one. Patrick Fisher was probably the reason we won at least a couple games last year whether it be kicking them to the other side of the field when we were backed up to the endzone or just being consistant all year at helping out the field position battle when our offense was struggling. The bottom line is that the coaches at LSU know what they are doing when they offer kids scholarships. And if our punters are terrible this year i don't want to hear any of you people against this complaining about how we need a punter. the coaches obviously think we need a punter and they went out and got one, we should all be on board with it.

I'm with you on this. But, I'm also with Lynx. Couldn't we find a HS player......one with more upside? This kid is "at least" (I think) 2 years removed from HS and doesn't appear to be able to kick over 40 yds.
I'm new to this board, AND kinda slow; but it appears as though some of you regulars are perplexed by this also. Just thinking out loud I guess.

just because he has a 36 average doesn't mean he can't punt over 40 yards and if he has great hangtime like they say then that cuts down on big returns

If you're looking for an argument, you've got the wrong person. I will sit like a good boy and listen to you experts. I've been put in my place.

Forget the fact that He is a Punter. This is the qoute that makes me feel good about the state of our program:

"There are some schools that are recruiters and some schools that are selectors,"

first of all, watch the film before you pass judgement. second, yard per punt averages are inclusive of return yards, and their punt coverage team seemed a little on the shitty side. third, i actually timed the punts in his film. ranged from mid 4.3's with one bomb at 4.9. this kid is a hell of a punter, don't get your pannies in a wad because he doesn't have any stars. this is a hell of a lot better use of a schollie than for williford.
