There are two vault different polio viruses.

The one used in the United States is the inactive polio vaccine. You can't get polio from the inactive vaccine.

The other is an attenuated vaccine. This is a weakened vaccine. This is what the oral polio vaccine is.

These vaccines are preferred by some because, if I remember correctly. These people can pass the virus to others, and since it is a weakened virus, they should have no problem.

There are rare problems with the attenuated virus. They sometimes are not attenuated enough and can cause symptoms. And I believe that even the attenuated virus can sometimes cause issues in extremely immunocompromised.

Now hiv is a large problem in Africa.

I'm not sure if these kids are hiv positive. I'm not sure of quality control messed up and didn't attenuate enough.

These are known complications from the attenuated virus.
