I would rank all 3: S&P 500, Tech ETF then Apple, because tech is currently overvalued generally and Apple specifically. Plus, buying a single stock is undiversfied, you're putting all your eggs in one basket but you’re not being compensated for that undiversified risk. Apple has been bankrupt in the last 30 years but the risk of a total wipeout in the S&P 500 is not a concern. Tech is not a reliable asset class over the long haul either.
If you think you're going to beat the market based on TD market advice, you're going to be poor. Buy the book "The 3 Fund Portfolio", buy index funds and stop thinking you can beat the market.
