Opening scene of the movie should have been the cardinal sitting at desk across from Michael and asking for his help — similar to Bonasera opening scene in GF1. This was in the DVD release cutscenes. I have no idea why they didn’t include it. Then they could have skipped to the opening medal ceremony and it would have made more sense. And I think it would have started movie out on more of the right foot.
And yes, unfortunately no matter what, this movie never had a chance to reach its potential without Tom Hagen.
