Has anyone done an estimate on how badly effected the NFL and NBA will be financially from this? I'd imagine TV ratings will be down by large percentages. Same with ticket sales once they're allowed again.

Will we see franchises go bankrupt? Entire leagues?

There are several franchises in all four of the major pro sports leagues that have been struggling financially for quite a while. If there's any industry that needs a Great Reset, it's that one.

Take MLB. I've stated (only half jokingly) that this season, Miami, Oakland, and Tampa Bay should do very well this season playing in front of no fans, since those three franchises already have lots of experience playing in near empty stadiums.

In the NFL we hear lots of talk about Buffalo maybe moving to Toronto and Jacksonville moving to London.

In the NHL the grand "Southern strategy" that Gary Bettman tried to impose has been a failure. Atlanta relocates to Canada. Arizona -- having relocated from another city itself -- has threatened to relocate again numerous times. Florida has attendance issues. So do Carolina and Tampa Bay even though both have brought the Cup home to their cities. And now Dallas has screwed over its "fans" (actually opposing teams' fans who buy tickets) as recently discussed.

The NBA has some franchise issues, mainly Sacramento who was about to leave for Seattle but stayed at the last minute.

These marginal teams who were previously candidates for relocation, now the cities that may have been interested likely don't have the funds to make it happen nor are the citizens likely to vote for a tax increase either. And cities with teams now face large bills on which (due to no fans) they may default (Arlington TX has the new Globe Life and AT&T and has some large payments due -- and both the Rangers and Cowboys have historically solid attendance figures so payments weren't an issue before all this).

Disney will carry them for as long as they can... It will take time for advertisers to realize their advertising is not reaching the masses for the money...

also, you are discounting the fact that advertisers and companies will be shamed into providing support for such woke organizations...

It will still be a show, just few will be watching...

There has already been talk about consolidating the minor league baseball system and that was BEFORE all this got started. With no minor league games this year, several franchises -- especially those not owned by the parent clubs -- could be in trouble, which may lead to one or more leagues folding or consolidating.

The WNBA is already a financial drain. It was already broke before the NBA went woke (remember, the Houston Comets won the first four titles; it no longer even exists as a team). Those teams which aren't owned by an existing NBA owner (e.g. Dallas Wings, who have a recurring issue of players demanding trades to get off the squad) are extremely vulnerable, would enough of them folding put the entire league in jeopardy?
