What is the up to date word on covid and myocarditis

They ran that study of 100 people, including asymptotic, and like 70+ of them had heart damage and 60 had myocarditis. Which is a fairly serious condition, is it not?
This is what freaked everybody out, including the Big10 and Pac12.
But, wasnt there aome admission the study was flawed or something? I cant find anything on that with google, but I thought we discussed that here.
Also, it doesnt seem like those numbers are playing out in real life. So far, there has been one MLB player diagnosed with myocarditis following a covid infection, and one college football player. But, there have been hundreds, maybe thousands, of athlete infections and recoveries in professional sports. Are they not screening for this condition after recovery?
There just seems to be some disconnect between that study and how infections and recoveries have played out. You just dont hear of a lot of people dying of heart attacks weeks after recovering from covid infection.

Study had a large margin of error and was completed on people much older than college aged students, and if I'm not mistaken was only completed on dead people.

Paper corrected. Conclusions “still stand” per the authors. I tend to agree with the MDs who first pointed out the errors, one of whom is quoted at the end of the article below, that comparison to healthy controls is irrelevant.

In science, one study on anything, no matter how well done, doesn’t really mean that much. Something with 100 participants sure as hell doesn’t. But yea, that story came and went quickly.

I’m 50 and caught Covid 19 in January. I felt like I had the flu no big deal. Fast forward to August and I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. Two or three weeks before I was diagnosed with a heart ailment I had an annual physical and my blood pressure was fine and my bloodwork looked tip top. Three weeks later the wheels came off and I thought I was having a heart attack. I can’t 100% sure say the virus did this to me but I can assure you this ailment I now have does not run in my family.

My cousin died of a heart attack a week ago. He tested positive for COVID so I can't help but wonder if COVID had an impact.
Maybe he had a heart condition but somehow COVID makes it worse? He was 53, active, and not obese.

Yes. I’m in the import lumber business. Was in Italy with our lumber supplier that we buy mahogany from. Europeans represent the bulk of the sawmills in West Africa.

Latest word seems to be that the study was one step above “ I heard on Facebook” and was useful as an excuse to justify the Big10 and PAC12 cancelling football but not everybody bought it so now that they don’t need it to sow panic it has receded to the level of concern it should have engendered all along, almost nil.
